In 1963, Fanavid was founded by Mr. Mansur José Farhat, with almost twenty years of experience in the glass industry. Mr. Farhat's experience in the sector began in 1945 when he opened a glass store in the Brás District of the city of São Paulo. Already by the end of that decade, the store had become the largest glass importer of São Paulo.
Mr. Farhat opened a glass store in the Bras district of the city of São Paulo. By the end of the decade, he had become São Paulo's largest importer of glass.
Then in 1957, he established Cristal Plex at the Mooca district. This company, supplied tempered glass to the civil construction industry and rapidly became the largest national supplier for stove and TV manufacturers in Brazil. Among its clients were Philips and Philco. In the same plant Fanavid started producing side glass windows for imported vehicles.
During that period while establishing his businesses, Mr. Farhat also helped in the creation of the Brazilian Glass Union (UBV) an association of glass traders motivated by the growing Brazilian industrialization.
This serves to explain Fanavid's pioneering spirit, whose background presented herein reveals some of its most outstanding facts.
